Spring has Sprung

Greenville, South Carolina is a great place to live. Being in the Carolinas though has its struggles. In March, we are ready to welcome spring, but beware...there will be a lingering cold front that will let you know winter isn't quite finished yet. One day last week it was 80 degrees during the day and 25 degrees at night. I had to remember to bring in my newly-purchased ferns. I love the spring season. Winter greys give way to bright greens in the trees and bushes, the birds start eating my birdseed again, the bright blue skies contrast the beautiful green grasses on the horizon.

To celebrate the new season, I love to make a tablescape that will remain from March through April or May. We have a lot of opportunities to host people for meals and Bible studies, and it is a lot easier to have something that can stay for a whole season than to make arrangements over and over again.

I began with a yellow plaid Hester & Cook table runner as my base. Then, I foraged a large piece of bark to use as the base—its size worked perfectly for my oversized table. I layered fresh green moss across the bark and along its edges where it met the table and waited a couple of days while I contemplated how to add some florals, lambs, or rabbits to "spring" it up. I found a couple of blue mid-sized rabbits I could implement into the design. Of course, D Stevens ribbon got tied around their necks. I added a few florals randomly around the bark and down the table along with some candle holders and candles, and voilà...spring tablescape. Hope it inspires you to forage some and use some of your tucked away goodies to decorate your table!
